A Harry Potter/Equus crossover?

This link does not go to The Onion, despite that being my first thought.

Two Songs on Repeat on the iPod in my Mind

This Wheel's On Fire - Guster (from the forthcoming Endless Highway - The Music of the Band album)

The theme song to Class of 3000. I know, it looked like another dumb cartoon, but imagine if Outkast's Andre 3000 made a children's cartoon. Ok, stop imagining... we're there. The Cartoon Network Page has a loop of the first bars of the theme, as well as non-Macintosh compatible music videos. YouTube has the opening segment . The show has a lot of funny lines and a lot of talented people onboard. In addition to Andre Benjamin, there's Bill Sienkiewicz (Comic artist), Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob (and many more)), Phil LaMarr (Marvin from Pulp Fiction, Hermes from Futurama), Jennifer Hale (voice actress - Bastila Shan (Knights of the Old Republic) and at least 100 more games), John Kricfalusi (Ren and Stimpy). My favorite Cartoon Network program remains Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, but Class of 3000 is quite enjoyable as well.

I don't care for this Bobby Flay fellow.

Nope, don't like Bobby Flay, never have ever since I first saw him. Wikipedia sums it up nicely:

In 2000, when the show traveled to New York for a special battle, he challenged Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto for Battle Rock Crab. After cutting his finger, he suffered an electric shock from faulty wiring in the makeshift Kitchen Stadium in New York. After the hour battle ended, Flay stood up on top of his cutting board and made the "raise the roof" gesture with the cheering audience.

Not realizing that all cooking instruments are sacred in Japan, he greatly angered Iron Chef Morimoto who criticized his professionalism, saying that Flay was "not a chef".

I was disappointed when he showed up on the Iron Chef America program as a regular Iron Chef, but I could deal. He seemed respectful and fairly low-key. Plus, since Alton Brown hosts the show, I could put up with Fran Drescher as an Iron Chef.

But now Mr. Flay, not content to have people challenge him in the abiding confines of Kitchen Stadium, has a new show called Throwdown! with Bobby Flay. Here's the premise: Flay has Food Network pretend they're throwing a party for an unsuspecting food professional, but instead it's a ruse for Flay to challenge the other chef at their specialty. In every episode I've seen the challenged chef looks a bit annoyed with Mr. Flay's sneak attack, as well they should. That's probably because Flay is a dick.

Now if Rachel Ray were the challenger, it might be an enjoyable show. I'm very passionate about Food Network hosts.

Go Hilltoppers!

Wow! As an alumnus, I couldn't be prouder to see my school immortalized on the comics page: in the panels of Gil Thorp, no less!

Disposable Fountain Pens

I ordered a dozen of these disposable fountain pens from Office Depot and oh man: they are sweet. About three bucks apiece and smooooth inkflow. Consistent lines with no skipping. They're 0.4mm and leave a thicker line than my standby pen, the Pilot V5, which is a 0.5mm. That mystery aside, this is a great pen for general writing and notetaking but I'm not yet sure how much I like it for drawing. Wednesday's ASBM will show the results.

Next time I'll get my pens from amazon (five colors!). And for the brave or already inkstained, they are refillable.
